You’re probably sick of seeing this video at this point, but I’m banging it on the main grid anyway. To say shooting this kit launch for @liverpoolfc and @adidasfootball was a privilege, would be a considerable understatement.

As a lifelong Liverpool fan, being able to direct legends like @steven.mcmanaman and Andy Robertson was dream stuff. Without wanting to get overly soppy, to most fans Liverpool Football Club isn’t just a sports team, it’s engrained in your favorite childhood memories, your best holidays, your culture. To be able to contribute to the club’s identity in even a small way- as kit releases often do these days- is an incredible feeling.

And seeing the idea through from start to finish with @allourfriendsco team is something I won’t forget anytime soon. Thanks again so much to @adidas for the opportunity. It was a very special experience and hopefully the best is yet to come….

With Crystal Palace winning the Community Shield yesterday, I thought I’d share this footage of Ebere @eze celebrating with his brother after winning the FA Cup in May. It was a pretty beautiful moment.

I’m a Liverpool fan, but can’t help liking Palace and Eze in particular. He spots his bro in the crowd and sprints towards him. When a loved one wins, you win too.

Oasis are back! I photographed their homecoming gig in Manchester with a twenty year old camera, the Ricoh GR, made around 2005, well before their last tour.

At a time when the world seems pretty scary, divided and quite frankly, insane, here was a gig- a moment- that served as some much needed escapism. Quite literally an Oasis.

They’re a band that divide opinion, but I absolutely adore those Mancunians. They were the first band I got into properly; me and my brother used to button up our top buttons and sing Wonderwall at family parties. They were just so unapologetically themselves, it was contagious.

And for me, growing up they represented possibility; making something of yourself. Regular lads having a go. If people were interested in their view of the world, maybe people could be interested in mine?

Anyway, it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to, it surpassed all expectations and I hope you enjoy the images.

How are we crew? I’ve only gone and made a video about how to do street photography. I’ve been doing it for nearly twenty years at this point. Should (hopefully) know a thing or two by now.

For me, taking photos in a new city is one of the most exhilarating, rewarding things you can do with your time on this planet. I’ve ended up in nightclubs with people, on boats, had coffees and meals with strangers. And then you come away with what can only be described as treasure, in the form of photographs, that you get to keep forever. It is, essentially, a treasure hunt.

It feels good to share the experience/process with anyone interested.

Tips for Street Photography:

1) Smile. Sounds simple, but people are way more receptive to a friendly face; someone who appears to be enjoying themselves.

2) Have two cameras around your neck (if possible). You’ll look the part (people will assume you’re super professional, making interactions easier), and you’ll have two sets of settings at your disposal.

3) Wear comfortable clothes and footwear. You’re going to cover some ground. Nothing wrong with dressing a bit flamboyant/outlandish either. People respond to a bit of eccentricity.

4) Go somewhere interesting/exciting. Doesn’t have to be fuc*king Miami. As long as the place has character.

5) If two cameras are an option, have one with a flash on, on a zoom lens, and the other with a prime lens on. You’ll have bases covered for all lighting scenarios. If two cameras aren’t an option, try and have these bits in your bag, to switch up your style when necessary.

6) Always get the shot. Don’t delay, or say you’ll get it later. You almost certainly won’t (or the light will have changed).

7) Be confident! Easier said than done of course. Practice makes perfect with this, though. Keep in mind that asking to take someone’s photograph is essentially a compliment. You’re approaching because they look interesting! Embrace that energy and you’ll be good.
