If you’re a wrestling ring announcer who wants more work - here’s a few things you absolutely MUST NOT DO! DO NOT create a showreel of your ring announcing highlights. It takes too much time and effort. You don’t know how Adobe Premiere works (of free software like CapCut and Instagram Edits) and even if you learned how to stick some clips together, you’re too busy in your free time scrolling on your phone. DO NOT share those videos online of your work. Your fellow ring announcers might judge you, maybe even privately insult you for wanting to get work. Strangers online might say nasty things if you put yourself out there. I mean, it might *maybe* get seen by someone who can help open doors for you, but it’s too risky. We can’t have “BigDave420” on Instagram call you cringe, can we? DO NOT reach out to promoters and people you want to work with. Absolutely never introduce yourself in their DMs or on email and send them the showreel you haven’t made. If you were any good they’d surely know who you are already. Plus they’ll surely just see it as you begging for work, and if there’s one thing an employee doesn’t want to deal with, it’s folk who want to work for them. DO NOT ask your peers, colleagues and clients for feedback on what you do. You already know what you do is brilliant, so what benefit is there? What if they come back to you and offer the dreaded “Constructive Criticism” on your work? All you wanted was for somebody to say how amazing you are, and now you’re looking at a paragraph of observations that will help you level up.
