Not book related but we loved the Operation Ouch exhibit at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester! For my curious kid this was the perfect day out. It’s a paid exhibit and on until January 26. (Definitely not an ad btw!)
FACTOLOGY SERIES by various // [Ad] If you’re looking for an educational series of non fiction books for KS2 and above, this collection is absolutely full to the brim!

What I would describe as a classic nonfiction series, Factology covers topics of science, nature, technology and history that would run perfectly alongside school or home learning topics. Bright, colourful with impactful layouts and so, so much to learn and absorb, the series has titles focusing on nature such as Dinosaurs, Bugs, Ocean and historical titles about the Vikings*, Romans*, Egyptians.

[*Because I review titles with the lens of inclusivity, I think it’s worth noting that the representation in the historical titles could be further improved, something to note if being used in isolation. It would be great to see in future reprints a more intentional inclusion of Black history in these titles.]
BOOKS ARE MY PASSION LEGO SET // Do you ever get a gift where you’re like, this is actually 100% me? If only my library was as beautiful as this, complete with Beauty and the Beast style ladder… Anyway, this was super fun to put together this Twixmas. Hope, if you’ve been celebrating, that you’ve had a good one. See you in 2025! 📚
AN ODD DOG CHRISTMAS by Rob Biddulph // Though it was a slightly drizzly day yesterday, we headed to our favourite park @thereaderatcalderstones for their Christmas Story Trail. This year the story was by one of our favourites, @rbiddulph. Draw with Rob had its beginnings in the first lockdown but remains as a brilliant and creative YouTube channel, a past time my 7yo adores! Rob’s picture and chapter books are consistently fun, brilliant and full of adventure.

An Odd Dog Christmas tells the story of one kind and friendly sausage dog who helps out when a Christmas travel problem arises! Part of a series of stories of positivity and a message about being true to yourself, Odd Dog is a character who stands out from the crowd. In this Christmas adventure, she has to search for the perfect gift, as well as spreading some Christmas cheer along the way. The illustrations are sublime and, in Rob’s unique, vivid and vibrant signature style.

We loved sharing this book together after a busy day finishing some Christmas jobs and our wet and a bit windy walk. This would make a fabulous gift or addition to the classroom and I can’t wait to share it at school this coming week. If you’re in the North West, The Reader and @thestorybarn are ALWAYS worth a visit! 🐾 🎄
