When I was a teenager, I tried therapy for the first time. Due to my immaturity, I didn’t get much out of it.

I carried that stigma into adulthood until I finally hit an emotional rock bottom. So much of our childhood leaks into fatherhood, and therapy like @betterhelp can help bring things to the surface, whether it’s trauma or something as simple as improving your emotional intelligence.

Therapy isn’t just for rock bottom. It’s also for the everyday struggles we face as fathers while raising the next generation. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads doing their best.

A good partnership never compares struggles.

It only helps carry each other’s burdens.

Modern parenting looks different than it did for previous generations. The more we work together and build each other up, the better the next generation will be.

Keep showing up.
Four years ago on Father’s Day, I had a mental breakdown.

It started my journey of finally doing the work to heal whatever was eating me alive inside. All the years of “manning up.” All the years of avoiding sounding like a victim.

Men. Dads. The things we avoid don’t disappear. They wait.

Dads can get a bad reputation. We’re portrayed as clueless, absent, emotionally unavailable, and unwilling to help.

But I believe something is changing.

Behind closed doors, there are men doing the work. Going to therapy. Breaking cycles. Learning emotional intelligence. Having hard conversations. Becoming the fathers they never had.

No applause. No recognition.

But we’ll see the results in the generations that come after us.

Keep healing.

Keep reaching out.

To the tired dads, the good dads, the involved dads…

Happy Father’s Day.

Keep. Showing. Up.
The new era of dad.

We see you. 🫡
