So further to my last video regarding my ankle, this is one of the main exercises I have been of late to regain some movement around my foot.

@garyward_aim and anatomy in motion call this transition, others might call it midstance, and it’s the moment she HOPEFULLY the body kinda returns everything to centre.

Hips level out, foot finds it “neutral” point on its journey from being pronated (flattened) to a supinated (arched) position.

Teaching the foot, with all of its 33 joints to have this range of motion and that those 26 bones can move in that manner is key to unlocking the nervous system’s feelings of safety to weight bare normally on it again.

Next video in this series will look at pronation and how we can try and use gravity and body weight to move the foot bones and joints to allow the muscles to eccentrically load to “spring” back and resupinate the foot.

If you want to explore your body and old injuries in greater depth to allow more more efficient and effective movement drop me a line or any questions regarding this movement. Leave me a comment
So further to my last video regarding my ankle sprain. Here is a little part of some of my rehab I’ve been playing with recently.

In @garyward_aim anatomy in motion world, this exercise is used to help reintroduce joint mechanics in the transition part of the hair cycle.

At this point in time the foot is moving from a pronated position (flattened and widened foot shape) into a more “neutral” position where the talus comes back towards centre.

Because of my inversion ankle sprain (the most common sort (70-80% of sprains) my brain/body/nervous system doesn’t want to be opening up an area that was traumatically opened excessively so the ankle tends to move into more of an everted/internally position.

Do goal one for me is to ease my nervous system to begin to accept some re-supination mechanics in a pain free manner to show that the movement will be safe to explore again.

Keep an eye out for another post as to why an ankle being in this position can be a pain, quite internally, in the arse and or neck.

If anyone would like to work with me to help unwind old injuries and feel and move more efficiently, drop me a DM
1 week ago, I sprained my ankle.

Give this video a watch if you want to understand ankle sprains a little better and why they need to be rehabbed.

This just a quick over view of the injury but more videos on my rehab will be coming very soon.
Every Friday morning I teach strong vinyasa flow at @shivastudio_nansledan
