Try adding postpartum exercises that truly support your pelvic floor.
In those early weeks and months, you spend so much time sitting while feeding, resting and cuddling your baby. It’s beautiful, but it can leave your hips and lower back feeling tight, weak and uncomfortable. When the surrounding muscles are not moving well, pelvic floor function can be affected too.
Stiffness through your mid back, shallow breathing and slumped posture can also increase downward pressure on the pelvic floor and add extra strain.
Choosing exercises that improve posture, open the hips, strengthen the glutes and build functional core and lower limb strength means you are supporting your whole body at once. One well chosen movement can offer so many benefits.
Postpartum exercise should never be painful. If you are struggling with discomfort or unsure how to return to movement safely, seek guidance from a postpartum physiotherapist.
